![]() With all that in mind (peak visor, internal sun shield & modular) there's isn't much choice on the market at an affordable price. I also wanted to have the added bonus of being modular. I also really liked the internal sun shield so this was a must for my next helmet. I currently have an HJC RPHA 70 which I like but after 3 years of riding with it there's one thing I thought was missing, the peak visor. I have no experience with any Arai but I will chime in cause I recently researched for a do-it-all Dual Sport helmet. Does anyone have experience with the XD4 and found an alternative they like? I'd like to get another XD4 but the design's long in the tooth (there are threads here going back to 2016 asking about its successor) and I'm balking at the price. The fogging is a complete pain in the ass I've got a pinlock but haven't gotten it fitted well, so it's an improvement but for the price should be a hell of a lot more than that.Ī couple of years ago I bought a "Shoei Hornet ADV Navigate Tc-2" (Euro version of the Hornet X2 but hundreds less from ) but really don't like it: the peak is too high, it materials aren't as nice, speaker positioning is poor, the cheek pads often come unsnapped when I take it off, and it generally just makes me mad. I love the position of the peak: I don't care so much about adjustability, just that it's in the right place to block the sun. It fits me well (after I relieved some forehead pressure with judicious use of a large spoon). It's gotten some rough use and is probably ready for replacement. Unfortunately for my wallet, I really like it. I’m not a gambler so I take the safe route.I've had an XD4 for a few years, now. Paying all the potential extra fees can eat into the cost savings. I hesitate to have it shipped to the house. I can’t even remember everything that I have bought from them. Oh, bought a set of givi e22s from them as well. Keep checking the outlet.Īnyway, the luggage set was waaaay cheaper than anything I could find here. Don’t forget to apply your discount codes when ordering. Everything came quickly and well packaged. I have never had any issue with any of my ordering BUT I am buying things that I don’t need to know the sizing for. I actually Skyped them at motostorm a couple years ago, I talked to some guy with a sexy Italian accent. I try to make the order worth the 60 buck shipping, I’m not spending 100 bux, go big or go home. I ordered a three set of kappa k venture aluminum panniers and two tank bags in one order and I have bought other various items from them. It’s a nice day ride down number two, and the parkway. I have it sent to my US shipping addy at 1000 islands, ride over and pick it up. I have ordered a LOT of stuff from motostorm in Italy. But once in a while the process ends up costing you more in terms of time and frustration. Most times it goes smoothly and you end up saving a lot of money. I've ordered many things from the US and Europe. But f*ck me if I'm going to go through the warranty process again! ![]() The locking mechanism is sticky and not as good as my last Schuberth. And to top it off, it's not fixed 100% either. And it took nearly two months for me to get my helmet. In the end, I barely broke even if I had ordered locally. That took another month, and a lot of effort on my part. I had to get all my documentation and receipts from the credit card company to request a refund from CRA. Italian shop resent me the helmet but didn't specify on the packing slip that it was a replacement, so I was charged duty a second time. Thankfully, it was done via eBay so at least eBay had my back on this. ![]() When it was repaired, the Italian shop wanted me to pay for shipping again, and it was a big battle for them to pick up the tab. Italian shop didn't send me a replacement, but instead forwarded the helmet to Schuberth in Germany to get fixed. Took two weeks to get there at the cheapest courier option. Helmet arrived and the flip-up locking mechanism jammed the first time I tried it on.Īfter many e-mails back and forth with pictures and videos to prove it was really broken and not user-error, I sent it back to Italy at my cost. It was easily $250 cheaper than buying it locally, even after shipping and duty. However, if the product is defective or damaged, then it will end up costing you untold $$$ and time. You end up financially ahead if nothing goes wrong.
